FlickIt 0.1.1

FlickIt 0.1.1 is a debugging and bug fix release. This release is recommended for all users of FlickIt, as it contains a vital update to the Flickr API calls which return the photos for your blogs.

Flickr is growing everyday, and so is their API. To cope with this growth, they have setup multiple photo servers to house the tens of thousands of photos uploaded by its users every day. To link to these photos properly, they had to update their API to respond with the correct photo server for that particular photo. FlickIt was not equipped to handle such responses, and this version includes that ability.

We’ve also seen a few people that have had a particular issue with FlickIt not properly returning query results. After trying, relentlessly, to reproduce the error - I have not been able to. This point release extends FlickIt’s error reporting capabilities, as well as forces PHP to display errors it otherwise wouldn’t, so that we might be able to debug this problem per instance it occurs.

In review

This release updates FlickIt’s API calls to Flickr to keep up with what they are doing, and hopefully to help load balance the calls for Flickr photos. And it also extends the error reporting in FlickIt to help debug any other errors which will be taken care of in future releases.

Ok, I got the problem fixed with some help from the wonderful folks at laughing squid (my host). Here what they have to say-

    Lou,

It’s working now. The plugin was written in such a way as to not work when register_globals is turned off. This has been the default setting for PHP for well over a year. I have enabled register_globals for your site (there’s a line in your top level .htaccess) and it seems to be working.

It works on mine, maybe it will work for everyone else.
